George E. “Butch” White, 83, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025 in The Pines at Catskill.

He was born in Poughkeepsie on August 30, 1942, a son of the late Charles E. and Helen A. Simmons White.

Butch worked for many years at Mott’s Apple Farm, and as a bulldozer operator at the Town of Esopus landfill.  He also drove a school bus for Greenville Central School.

Butch enjoyed dressing as Santa Claus at Christmas and handing out candy to the children.  In earlier years, he was an avid bowler and member of the Esopus Fire Company.

Butch is survived by his daughter, Nan White, and several grandchildren; his sister, Debra A. Griffin (Ricky Yelle); nephews, William and Branden Griffin; his fiancée, Tia Hosler; family friend, Maria Wood and family.  He was predeceased by his wife, Nanette White, and his brother-in-law, Keith B. Griffin.
