Edward J. Campbell, III, 81, was reunited with his wife on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
Ed was born in Brooklyn on May 27, 1944, to the late Edward J. and Henrietta Campbell. He spent his younger years in Brooklyn and attended Erasmus High School. Ed met the love of his life, Ronnie Joyce Herman, while ice skating in Prospect Park. They married in 1965.
After spending 15 years working on Wall Street, Ed went tohis boss at EF Hutton and told him that he was taking his wife and children and moving upstate to raise chickens. While the “chicken raising” idea did not pan out well, life in the town of Greenville did. Ed worked at the former Pioneer Insurance Company, starting out as an underwriter and retiring in 1991 as an officer of the company.
Ed enjoyed many years of volunteering on the Greenville Rescue Squad as an AEMT. He also volunteered with the Greenville Volunteer Fire Company, and delivered Meals on Wheels with his wife Ronnie by his side. He served for 16 years as Chairman of the Greenville Planning Board, and also served as Deputy Town Clerk for his wife, Ronnie. Ed and Ronnie’s love of the Mets, traveling, and spending time together with family and friends was what they enjoyed most.
Ed was predeceased by the love of his life of 60 years, Ronnie Joyce Herman Campbell on August 9, 2022. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Scott) Benway; son, Ed (Donna)Campbell; as well as his two granddaughters, Amanda Campbell and Rebecca (Nick)Huggins.
